The web portal devoted to the city of Madrid esMADRID.com [www.esMADRID.com] has a mobile version, esMADRIDmóvil, that allows users to access loads of useful information about Madrid from any location. The service is available in three languages (Spanish, English and Japanese) and the contents are updated daily. Any mobile device with an internet connection can be used to easily check the information that is of interest to both visitors and people who live regularly in Madrid.

The access, which is carried out by mobile phone at movil.esmadrid.com, includes WAP and I-mode versions with all the basic information on tourism, leisure, culture and business in Madrid. The I-mode portal allows Japanese tourists to view the contents of the page in their own language.

The mobile version of esMADRID.com, which can also be accessed at pda.esmadrid.com and wap.esmadrid.com, offers information about tourist routes, gastronomy, museums and exhibitions, fairs, infrastructures in the capital and a complete cultural and leisure programme. It also allows users to download a mobile version of esMADRIDmagazine, the free monthly magazine that gathers the vast cultural and leisure offer available in the city of Madrid.

This mobile portal, which is part of the “family” of promotion channels set up by the Municipal Company Promoción de Madrid (attached to the Municipality Department of Economy and Citizen Involvement), will soon offer users the possibility of viewing the audiovisual contents of the esMADRIDtv television channel. Along the same lines, we are also designing new added value services like ticketing (virtual tickets, for the theatre or cinema, sent to mobile phones) or geopositioning applied to tourism and leisure resources.
